Artwork Description: Interventi is a body of work that reflects on the irreversible transformation taking place within the local context. Land that has existed for millions of years is being permanently transformed in a relatively short time. Interventions that are changing the aesthetic and spiritual value of the land forever.
Thomas Scerri (b. 1990) is a multimedia artist based in Malta. His work often explores subjects beyond the surface value, and this usually leads to abstraction. While the forms are mostly influenced by nature and the surroundings, they are primarily driven by the unconscious and dictated by the material. Thomas frequently challenges the boundaries between the man-made and the natural. While doing so, his work often aims to raise concerns about the potential consequences of unsustainable human intervention.
