LUCIO DUBINI

Medium: Coloured clay sculpture (unique original piece)

Size: 29x21x23cm

Artwork Description: ‘Palazzo dei Sogni’ is an abstract coloured clay sculpture. It is composed of geometrical parallelepiped shapes interconnected and attached playfully and irregularly. Each shape has a different colour or pattern. The main colours are yellow, blue, and white. Different textures add delicacy and vibration to the composition. Forms, colours and patterns create an original abstract dialogue that allows the viewer’s mind to travel freely within the cavities or on the tops of the sculpture’s protrusions.

About

LUCIO DUBINI

Lucio Dubini (b,1973 in Milan) is an abstract painter and sculptor. His works are characterised by playful interactions of lines, shapes and materials. His favourite colours are light blue, yellow, and grey, but he also loves black and white. He uses canvases or clay and wood sculptures as the mediums to produce whimsical and humorous abstract narratives. Textured and sculptural elements are often included to generate unexpected results. Creating abstract compositions is for him a way to externalise an internal assembly of ideas, questions, emotions, and images. He is passionate about exploring the meaning of life, trying to find one’s goal, and hopefully inspiring other people through his work. The bright colours of the country where he lives, Malta, have an important influence on his works (the blue sea, the yellow limestone, and the bright sky). The strong winter storms in particular have a fantastic energetic impact. Dubini’s artworks were exhibited in a solo exhibition at the Malta Society of Arts in Valletta in 2020, in a collective abstract show in Rabat in 2022 and at the Order of Malta National Art Exhibition in Valletta in 2023.
