Josette Caruana, born on 3rd April 1959 in Pietà, Malta, is a professional practicing artist specialised in experimental art. She studied art at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology. In 1982 she received a four-year scholarship by the Italian government at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence, Italy, and in 1988 she obtained a Diploma in Fine Arts. In 1991, Josette followed a special course in Art for Professional Practicing Artists at Cooper Union, New York City. In 1995 she opened a Studio Gallery at No. 16 Sappers Street, Valletta. Josette has participated in various solo and collective local and international exhibitions and symposiums, namely in Italy, USA, Seoul - South Korea, Germany, UK, Belgium, Austria, Sweden, Gibraltar and Algiers. Her work is to be found in private collections, locally and internationally. In 1992, a glass sculpture was acquired by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Malta, for its permanent collection.
