Artwork Description: The human figure is always an inspiration to me. I attend life class sessions, and then work on and choose drawings either for ceramics, metal sculpture or wax to cast in bronze.

ANTOINE PAUL CAMILLERI

Born 5th August 1959, Camilleri was an apprentice to Antoine Camilleri and attended the Upper Secondary School in Valletta under Esprit Barthet. He also attended pottery classes with Gabriel Caruana. He followed further training with a Diploma in Fine Arts and trained in the teaching of Ceramic Design. In 2008 he won the Malta Society of Arts Silver Palette Competition. His several public commissions include: Monument for the Millennium, St Joseph School Blata il-Bajda; Resin Christ (8 ft sculpture) for the new church of Pembroke, Kommunita Kristu Rxoxt, and Via Sagra (regretfully removed some years later); Crucifixion and Via Sagra for the Airport Chapel; Sculpture for the Petting Farm in Ta’ Qali; Ego Gozo public art ‘It Tfulija‘ (bronze sculpture with suspended bronze pigeons) in Rabat, Gozo; Eco Gozo ‘The Three Framers’ in Sannat, Gozo. Camilleri has held several solo exhibitions with works from diverse media, namely tin, metal, cement, glass fusion, ceramics, resin, ceramics wax for bronze casting, drawing with pen, watercolour, acrylic paint, etching and lino prints. His latest works have been created via pyrography on wood.
