About

ANTOINE PAUL CAMILLERI

Antoine Paul Camilleri was born in August 1959, one of five children. From a young age, he apprenticed under his father, the late Antoine Camilleri (1922–2005), one of the most influential Maltese artists of the 20th century. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous collective exhibitions and held several solo shows. His diverse body of work includes pen-and-ink drawings, acrylic paintings, etchings, watercolors, metal sculptures, cold-cast works, and ceramics. Now retired, he dedicates his time to painting and sculpture from his studio in Pembroke. This recent series of pyrography artworks captures scenes not only from Valletta, the capital city, but also from its surrounding villages and towns. Despite his versatility, ceramics have always remained Antoine Paul's favorite medium.
