Weathered and worn, the sculpted rock face stands as a silent witness to the passage of time, reminding us of the beauty that emerges from impermanence.

ALEX ATTARD

ALEX ATTARD’s practice blurs the line between documentation and artistic expression, capturing what he terms the “overlooked performance” and the subtle nuances of the world around us. He prefers to work in series, creating compelling visual narratives that curate reality, encouraging a more mindful and engaged approach. He has exhibited his work in several solo shows, Fragmented Sculptures of an Island Coast, Marie Gallery 5, 2024, Out of Now, Il-Kamra ta’ Fuq, 2021; Parallel Existences, Valletta Contemporary, 2018; A Wandering Eye, Spazju Kreattiv, 2017; and The Overlooked Performance, Spazju Kreattiv, 2015. His work has been featured in several high-end shows and projects, including the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2023 and 2016, as well as collective exhibitions in Paris, Dresden, and Luxemburg. He is the author of two published monographs, Exposure - Fragmented Sculptures of an Island Coast, recipient of the Monograph Book category first prize at the International Photography Awards (IPA) 2024, and Parallel Existences, which received an Honourable Mention in the book category at the IPA 2023. It was also awarded the Best Book Production at the Malta National Book Prize in 2019. A selection of his works forms part of the National Art Collection of Malta, and Fondazzjoni Kreattivita, Malta’s National Centre for Creativity.
