PAUL HABER

Paul Haber, born in Gozo in 1940, studied art at the Government School of Art in Malta, Liceo Artistico di Roma, Istituto Artistico Piero Vanucci in Perugia, Camberwell College of Art in London, Hornsey College of Art in London, and Graduated with a BA Hons in Ceramics from the Central St Martin University of the Arts in London. He held art and ceramics teaching posts in government schools, taught ceramics privately and lectured at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology. He also set up and runs Alka Ceramics at the Crafts Village in Malta, which for many years exported all its production, mainly to the USA. He exhibited widely in Malta, USA, and Europe with his most important exhibitions being a retrospective exhibition in the Bank of Valletta series; exhibitions at Lincoln Centre, New York; Sonnenberg, Germany; Palazzo, Florence; representing Malta at Kunstmuseum, Denmark; a solo exhibition at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg; one-man exhibitions at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta; and an outdoor show at City Gate, Valletta. The most recent being ‘Colours of Malta’ - an exhibition at Le Mairie de Louvre, Paris in 2023. For his artistic achievements, Paul was awarded several recognitions, one of the most significant was the Grolla d’Oro in Venice, a Gold Medal in World Small Ceramics in Zagreb and the national honour Medal for Service to the Republic of Malta.
