Artwork Description: This artwork is part of the body of work entitled Remember/Dismember. In this collection the artist explores visual memory, historical artworks, and contemporary interpretations of such artworks. In this painting the artist extracts the essence of what he feels are the representations of baroque landscapes and skies, and reassembles them in this abstracted interpretation. In this exploration, the artist is dialoguing with historical art and in doing so also pointing out the importance of ‘cultivating’ (nindokraw) the appreciation of his such artworks.

DARREN TANTI

Darren Tanti (1987) is an artist renowned for his thematically loaded and technically accomplished artworks. His focus is hyperreality and the exploration of various experimental techniques, including the hybridisation of the digital with academic forms of art. Tanti has participated in numerous art projects and exhibitions in international contexts. Some of the most prestigious exhibitions that Tanti participated in are Time, Space, Existence at Palazzo Mora in the Venice Biennale of Architecture in 2014 (project curated by AP) and Homo Melitensis as one of the artists representing Malta in the Venice Biennale of Art, 2017. He received acclaim for his major solo exhibitions, such as Inaction is a Weapon of Mass Destruction (2022) and Apotheosis (2023). Tanti is a lecturer of Fine Art at MCAST Institute for the Creative Arts.
