Artwork Description: The port area is scattered with canons which have been embedded along the docks and shorelines and used for mooring purposes giving them a use far from their intended one. The same canons which once spelled war, now allow shelter within the harbours. With the use of watercolour in a very restricted palette, the artwork explores the composition created by ropes pulling in different directions.

About

Sarah Calleja

Sarah Calleja started painting at a very young age and enjoys experimentation with medium and in an attempt to capture the essence of a place, or a feeling. Her brushstrokes are well thought-out but executed quickly and minimally. Her palette is often restricted as she continues to explore tonalism and monochromatic art.
