Roses at Fomm ir-Rih

Kenneth Zammit Tabona

Medium: Watercolour on paper

Size: 62 cm x 73 cm framed

Year: 2022

Artwork Description: In his typical style Kenneth Zammit Tabona portrays a Fuoridentro painting with a Chinese vase with its serene, glazed painting of a pagoda next to a tree and bridge, and a fisherman plying his trade. In contrast the outside scene depicted from the side window shows a rather gloomy inclement weather, with a storm brewing and lightning expected to light the skies. In this painting the artist shows a withering rose, with the petals waiting to drop with the slightest breeze. Together with the drying rose petals, the snaking stalk and stem of the rose with its protruding thorns are the essence of the beauty the artist sees in an otherwise fading flower.
