Artwork Description: The special granularity of the Maltese stone carved by wind, sea and time, is at the heart of this series. The colours of the emerging spring, the sunlight on the rock, the reflections of the water accompany the eye in this space that is both immense and forced. Like extractions, enlarged pixels of the landscape, Katelia, encourages us to look more closely, to get closer...Sometimes our gaze comes up against traces left by humans. However, humans are infinitely small in this landscape.

About

Katel Delia

Born in France, Katel Delia, is deeply attached to her Maltese origins and has been living and working between Malta and Paris since 2016. After completing her DNSEP Degree (Beaux-Arts de Rennes), she plunged into the internet bubble as artistic director and then functional project manager. In 2015, she finally decided to exhibit her artistic projects. She creates installations combining photography, sculpture, sound and writing. Her work focuses on how traces of the past reflect into the present. She is also investigating our perception of space. Very recently, a photography series of hers was awarded with the 10th CAP Prize, Contemporary African Photography Prize. Her work was also featured in various photo festivals in France, and in Malta. She has had two solo exhibitions at Spazju Kreattiv ‘Malta – Tunis – Marseille’ in 2021 and ‘Familja migrAzzjoni. I was born there, but I live here…’ in 2017. She created an immersive photo installation “The Last Breath” at Il-Kamra ta’ Fuq (2021). Her works featured at The Mdina Biennale, the Malta Society of Art, Christine X Gallery and The Gabriel Caruana Foundation. She has also participated in various collective exhibitions in France and Switzerland.
